The above competencies will provide the framework for designing the learning environment and experiences we use to deliver the learning areas.
Working with the key competencies is a new development area for us in 2007 and although we would like to cover all five competencies we have decided this year to focus on aspects of the above three as they meet the most pressing needs of our students.
As we become more confident at working with these competencies we will use them in combination.
We have a significant number of students in this school who are causing management issues therefore the competencies of managing self and relating to others are vitally important components of developing learning experiences that will take the students from where they are currently. It is important that they have quality learning opportunities that enable them to learn.

Information Skills
We believe that all students can learn.
However they will not all learn in the same way or in the same time space.
We will nurture this learning by:
providing multiple opportunities for students to learn;
making connection across the curriculum;
drawing on students prior learning and knowledge – building on their current learning;
being very clear about the expected learning outcomes which will be shared with the students.
To achieve the above we will integrate our learning through an over arching theme/context that will run for the year.
This year the overarching theme/context is building sustainability for our endangered species. In this case beginning with the kiwi
