ERO Review 12th – 14th May: The full report will be available to the community by the end of June. The overall report feedback was very, very, very good. I wish to complement the staff in all areas of their work ethics and most importantly, their continued commitment towards the students of Tapora School.
An area highlighted for myself as principal, was that a clearer line of communication is needed with families of our students in ensuring that the parents are informed/aware of the innovative initiatives within the school, more significantly The Tapora School Curriculum, CHaOS and Google Apps. For that reason, I will be contacting all families with the view to organise home visits to show and discuss these initiatives. It will also be an opportunity for parents to ask questions. A schedule will be sent out, requesting a meeting time and date within the next fortnight.

ASB Banking: Tapora School now has registration packs available for parents wishing to open accounts for their children. Deposits will be collected at Tapora School, every Wednesday. Please contact the principal and/or administrator for further details.

Staffing Changes: Peter Wynwood will now be working at Rodney College for three days a week. We cannot quite say goodbye as the good news is that Pete is still employed by Tapora School - on Tuesdays and ½ a day Wednesday. However, I would like to thank Pete for the seven years of full time work that he has done for the school.
Goodbye and a sincere thank you to Mrs Gaeline Wright who has worked as our financial administrator for the past three years. Mrs Heidi Burchett will be filling this fixed term position until the end of 2010.
Our cleaner, Adam Shadbolt, also leaves Tapora School to further his studies. We wish you well in your future studies and thank you for the fantastic job you did

Soccer/Hockey Day – 26th May: This event takes place at the Port Albert Domain. Parents please be aware, all students playing hockey MUST wear a mouth guard or they will not be allowed to play. The school does not supply these, but they are available from Wellsford Sports and Leisure for $6.00.
Permission forms will be sent out today.

Congratulations to the following certificate recipients:
Room 3:
Sloane Davys for a great attitude to all his work and helpfulness in class.
Carley Pratt for great listening and fast and careful cutting out of our rainbow hands.
Lyric Greenwood for following instructions carefully and helping others, and for his writing.
Room 2:
Kyle Collis and Isaiah Brady- Hemopo for achievement and excellence in maths and reading.
Room 1:
Frederick Wicky and Lachlan McDevitt for learning how to multiply decimals by the power of ten.
Golden Book Award:
Connor Stanford for taking responsibility outside of school for his own learning and being enthusiastic about it.

Red Tapora School Shirts: We have Tapora School Shirts for sale for $30 each. Please contact the school if you would like to purchase one. Please note, Tapora School does not make a profit from the sale of these shirts, they are sold at cost.

News from the Board of Trustees

On Friday night the Board met with the Education Review Office as they were ready to give feedback on many aspects of our school.
This report was outstanding and made special mention of the strong leadership of our principal, excellent teaching programmes and the extremely high standard of reporting and assessment. They also commented on our “delightful children” and how much they enjoyed the time they spent with them.

A full report will be available in the coming months but at this stage we would like to thank all our staff for the tremendous effort they have put into this ERO review and into our school in general. Thank you also to the children for being attentive and engaging with our guests. As a Board we have been reassured that our school is on the right track and is offering a high level of education to our children.

Naku Noa,
Bridget Rika.
