Tapora School is situated in a supportive rural community on the Okahukura Peninsula which juts into the Kaipara Harbour. The closest town, Wellsford, is 33 kilometres away. It acts as a service town for a large rural area that stretches from the east coast to the west. The school draws students from the Tapora district, as well as from Wellsford, the Wharehine and Port Albert areas.
Our school is strongly bi-cultural rather than multi-cultural as approximately 20% are Maori and most of the other children are European. Our staff aim to deliver an exciting programme to students and are passionate and enthusiastic about teaching and learning. The school is staffed by three full time teachers and a fourth part time teacher who offers a programme for students with special learning needs.
Our School has a strong commitment to staff and students having access to and the use of high quality computer and digital technology to support teaching and learning in the areas of communication and information skills. We would like our students to respect, both themselves and others, take responsibility for their own learning and their actions and have the willingness and confidence to pursue their dreams with Integrity and a generosity of Spirit. We hope that our students enjoy learning at our school and if there are any queries or issues please feel free to contact us.
